Comes out as "et aaatttt ooohhh deserve" he misses the start of 3 words. :| He uses that "technique" in almost every song on that album.

He sings, "Do you get it? What did you deserve?" as a snarky taunt. Its clear as a bell on both the monitors and the Sennheisers. Its pretty common for a chorus to get slight variations to give a little different rhythm when singing.  

Try some early REM if you want sludgy singing. Anything from Murmur to Fables of the Reconstruction should leave you confused.

I have the hearing of a 15 year old girl as I often boast. Ive tried to attend most small club shows in my life wearing half a foam plug in each ear.

NME isnt a music Mag anyway, its a Style mag for the herd to read between chewing grass and screwing.  There are people who actually follow the NME like it is a style bible, when in fact any magazine that has 6 monthly meetings to decide what they are going to say is cool for the next 6 months can kiss my arse.
