Is it just me or is the way you need share files to the xbox360 crap, Ive got pretty much my whole computer shared on the network and it still doesnt pick up the movie I want to play.

Ive spent the best part of an hour trying to get an MP4 to show up on it. Messing around with the wmp11 library and installing 3rd party codecs and all that crap!

what is wrong with just showing a nice folder/file tree on the xbox instead of it limiting you to what you can see.

Not sure about your issue, but my gripe with media center on the 360 is it seems to struggle with the volume of albums on my computer. I end up having to open it up and button mash, hoping I get something to play before the menu system crashes.

I have never had a problem with it personally, just share the folders where you have films and go into those folders on the 360.

I dont use the media center because it makes life difficult but since the 360 will now stream divx/xvid files from a computer that isnt an issue. You do have to share the files through media players sharing though, not standard network shares.

The files also have to be a format the console can actually use. No MP4 etc.
