anyone used pfsence ?
(never used it, but...)

stick it on an old computer to use as a router.... works as an awesome router... but does loads of other stuff too, like kick ass antivirus and firewall, built in cach'ing and about a billion other things... best thing about it is it's all point and click... it does pretty much everything automatically

QuotepfSense is a free, open source customized distribution of FreeBSD tailored for use as a firewall and router. In addition to being a powerful, flexible firewalling and routing platform, it includes a long list of related features and a package system allowing further expandability without adding bloat and potential security vulnerabilities to the base distribution. pfSense is a popular project with more than 1 million downloads since its inception, and proven in countless installations ranging from small home networks protecting a single computer to large corporations, universities and other organizations protecting thousands of network devices.

vid of someone setting it up

got my router setup to auto restart every 24 hours... which stops it crashing... but it still sucks, I'd really like qos to prioritise different traffic etc...  plus it's mega easy to track traffic, sort it by different devices etc...

Binary Shadow

used it for a bit in my last job, seemed to be pretty good, although the interface wasn't the best

Looks good, my "spare" microserver may have found a new use :)

knighty

I've got two now and got the NAS side sorted, the N36 will be for just playing with at the moment unless I decide to sell it, the 54L will replace it :-)
