For the past month, my router has being dropping the connection, BT said it was due to indiffrent noises coming down the line from the router. So I thought fair enough lets try a USB Speedtouch modem. Sooo it dials up then at some random time *Service Crash*.

I just thought it was a once off and then again it happened. So I decided maybe its my PC so I formatted and tryed again the connection still crashes my service out.

Ive rang them and the say BT will look further in yet if BT Engineer comes out its Ã,£60! Why do I get charged when its BT/Pipexs fault when I pay a rental fee, that should also include line maintance. The thing is the phone line for calls is totally fine. Im just pondering would it be exchange side thats broken.

One month with dodgy net and no chance of gameing really annoys the hell out of me. You lot think I should ask for a refund for a month?

Im also thinking of changing ISP all I need is 512kb line with no caps and no stupid limiting of ports etc. Cheers :)

DEViANCE

when i was with pipex and my con kept droping they sent a BT engineer out and it was free, he just had to reterminate the connections where they join the house on the roof. i think they said if he doesnt find anything i had too pay a callout fee.

Im with tiscali now tho and no probs.

Poison_UK

Will not touch tiscali one bit had 101 problems with them before.. Aye will give them a ring back tomorow and find out how far they have gotten :)

Beaker

tell them the line is obviously faulty as you have tried differrent hardware and there is no way everything is at fault.  If they even suggest charging suggest that their faulty hardware is causing a problem, and if they dont fix it they are voiding their contract of service.

Mentioning Telewest is always a winner, because if you cancel one someone i believe they get a black mark against them for not retaining custom.

Deaths Head

Have they told you to connect using the BT test logon overnight to check if your connection drops?  That will tell you if its a line problem or a Pipex issue.

Poison_UK

Yeah DH they said I was getting indiffrent signals coming down the line from my end supposdly. But still nothing fixed :( Going to ring them later and see what the update is on the situation and give them till Friday 5pm to sort it else im moving over to Zen Internet.

-512kb/256kb
-5 Static IP Adresses
-No blocking etc

neXus

This all sound all to familiar

What it ended up for me was the fact at the time at the exchange the switch they had was a 2mb one and had some issues and they switched it to a 1mb only and all of it went away. Since then they have made it for up to 8mb as many and so some issues I have had recently may be them sorting out.

Basically its set up with the exchange to bt to pipex, pipex are good but there is something not quite right with the relationship there.
Other companies have similar others are fine, its odd.

Its wierd today its stayed up all day with good pings and no loss :)

I threatened to leave them and asked how I could claim back a free month due to unusable connectability. So they must of scuffed up to it and got the job done :)

Poison_UK

Screw that Idea its being dropping again tonight :(
