This has probably been done before but here goes again.

Comparion, future proofing and anything else related to this subject i and anyone else would like to here.

The reason for this, i was reading a review earlier and found this snippet of info:

QuoteIf you are thinking of going SLI or Crossfire you will need a powerful CPU and opting for a Dual core will severely bottleneck the cards,

Now i thought that both Dual and Quad were good for gaming, but my understanding is that the more power a single core has, the better it would be

I dont know the history of CPU3D but i would trust THG / Xbit Labs over them anyday..

basically if you are buying now its sily not to buy a motherboard that cant take a quad in the future.  However either a quad or a dual is fine for everyday gaming.  I was looking at upgrading my 6000+ at one point.  Decision taken was that there isnt anything out there that pushes it to the limit now, so why buy a dual?  The exception to that is if you can get your hands on a decent low-end quad (i.e. the Q6600).  They are good value for money, however th Q9xxx seems silly when a mid-high end dual will effectively do the same job, and costs half the price.

>>THIS<< the review Bacon? If it is he sounds like a quad fan boy to me.

I have done a lot of reading about quad v duo over the last month or so, his statement about  "Dual core will severely bottleneck the cards" is not something I have seen written in any reviews anywhere else, while Im sure it will be true in the next generation of games at the mo it isnt.

That is the review in question.

I agree with you, maybe in future games but nothing that is current, every other review i have seen is totally different to this reviewers train of thought.

Imo the editor should have picked up on that and changed it.
