Apparently the Vice President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, George Fornay, has revealed how much the PS3 will cost during an interview on a radio show.

So Ã,£350 to Ã,£420, presuming its a staight price conversion to GBP.

....which it never is.

Yep, i bet it will be min Ã,£450.

Which is - OUCH, with the games being Ã,£45-Ã,£50 (confirmed for a bit now) thats pricey, by the time it launches Xbox360 will be nearer Ã,£150, and the revolution (name may change now ^^) will i bet be Ã,£100 ish with games Ã,£30.

Over the top pricing I mean a PS2 Slimline is still around Ã,£110 with a game and memory card... Still a bit of money...

Cypher

The PS2 is still Ã,£100, because there is still a demand for it.  As long as people keep buying it, Sony have no reason to change it.  Though it does go through minor cuts every few months or so.

Suddenly nintendos saving money strategy is starting to make sense in this era.

Bet they could charge 500 quid & they would still sell out.

True Dave there is always the ones with more money than sense.

thing is some of the peeps whod buy it at 500 quid might have some sense

............(but only if they were planning on reselling on e-bay to the bigger muppets prepared to pay a grand ;) )

I wonder what Batch has to say about this.

I will not pay the current price for an X-Box 360.  I am certainly not going to put down that much money for a PS3.  My X-Box will provide me plenty of entertainment while I wait for the prices to come down.

If it is around that price, with things like the itoy for the ps3, new joypads, the online service etc, buy some bits and games, sign up online i bet your on for like Ã,£600 + or something silly.

You could by an ok pc for that money, some mac minis are going for that with games included.
I bet Nintendo are felling happier and happier by the month, and me personally i am getting more and more keen in their machine.

Dont blame you.

My brother got an X-box and I hate the control for all but driving games, same problem with the new controlers though :( . Compy with keyboard and mouse/joystick for me.

Im still running my old 2500+ Barton cored AMD Athlon and I still havent seen a game it cant handle at a realistic resolution, its getting me worried TBH.

Ive not bought a 360 yet, because of its price, I certainly wont pay Ã,£500 for a PS3.

Maybe when it drops to a sensible price I might consider it, but like the PS2, if the Gran Turismo games are the only good games, i wont bother.
