Moving into a new house and I can get cable:

So who is the best cable provider? Looked at Virgin for 26 quid a month I can get a 20meg line with no cap any good?

I also need a reel of CAT5 where can I get it cheap please?

Cheers people  :w00t:

Wow, theyve got worse since I last looked. Im gonna have another look at getting a BT line installed...

Poison_UK

They do indeed suck I think I may just go with Be+

Beaker

if you are going to be there for 12 months or longer, and have an O2 PAYG or Contract phone you can get the 16Mb product for £10 per month.  Same infrastructure as Be*, but they dont offer upload plus even on the £20Mb product.  When I moved house i switched from Be* to O2 because I couldnt get 20Mb anymore :(

Poison_UK

I think its going to be with Be* heard nothing but good things from people...

Any ideas about getting a reel of CAT5 anyone please?

Pete

Be - good, so Ive heard.

Cat 5 - Denon or ebay or ebugger.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

yeah, they are pretty good.  However O2 own Be*, and if you dont think youll get over 16Mb why pay £18 a month rather than £10?  My IP even comes up as being a a BeThere owned IP addy.

The £26 is only for the first month.

I pay £42 a month as I dont pay via direct debit, otherwise its £38 a month.

That said while they do have "caps" during peak times... theyre very soft normally, and Ive never noticed major adverse issues and im someone who used to download a hell of a lot.

Its for the first year now ;)

I think we have decided to go for Cable as no one can be arsed with a Phone Line in the house at all!

Bastardo!! :o I wants. Virgin are rolling out 50mb this year too :D Cant wait for that to hit me :)

Yeah I have a landline phone number set up through sipgate. £10 credit on that thing lasts forever!

Poison_UK

Ahhhh good idea I was thinking of doing something like that for ringing home!

Poison_UK

20meg Virgin line in, its a bit flaky at the moment but people have said to give it a week or so to settle down. If after a week give them a ring?

Anything worth knowing about cable?

Providing you at least all have a mobile each there shouldnt be much of a problem, some companies insist on a fixed line number when trading with you for some reason.
