Nyone know if it is possible to make a php code system that will when you give it a link go to it, take a snapshot of say 150 by 150 at a certain location and then create an image?

Seen websites with lots of thumbnail views of sites, wondered if it can be automated and not done by hand

Doubt it mainly because the php script doesnt view the sight like we do, it sees just code :)

What you might be able to do is create a program to run on a machine and browse a list of sights, take screenshots, upload and then have a php script generate the thumbnail list depending on what files are in a specific folder.

coppermine does this IIRC.  You upload a directory, then it shows the thumbnails of the pics.

Except hes on about something different :) Its easy to get php to thumbnail images and display them from a directory.

What nexus wants it the next stage... for php on a site to visit websites choose a 150x150 square and just take a snapshot of it and save it.

Yep, I am looking at a site concept for somone
You have those thumbnail adverts sites etc, you have links to people or their logos linked, some fancy ones all in one.

I was thinking of a square grid with the php code capturing the images of the sites and have the sqaure full of thumbnail sites but it to be quite automated.
