Only reason I dont want dell is Im staring at them all day at work.
I was looking at the this (http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/118106/rb/27446307807) one, can I do better for the money? Theyre the same panels as the dell ones, innit?
Dont want something too cheap but nothing more than sorta £200.
edit: and is 22" a taller screen than a 17" square one.
The 225BW has now been replaced by the 226BW, pretty much the best 22" tft under £300ish. But its more pricey.
Ive heard the 225bw had a few problems, but it still might be the best one if £200 is your budget. FWIW, £260ish was the going rate for a 225 until a few weeks ago when the 226bw started drifting into the uk.
Sorry but dell all the way, the new ones are better looking as well now
If you want an alternative though - Acer, I love the quality and we just got an lcd tv from them for the back room - Really dam good
^ Dont listen to him. Dell is great if you spend a lot more money but at the £200 mark theyre nothing special. The ultrasharps are wicked mainly due to their pukka IPS panels (currently sitting in front of my 2407fpw  ) but the only one for ~£200 is the E207 (£200) which is only a 20" and uses a twisted nemetic panel, just like all the cheaper monitors from other manufacturers. You can get a lot more for your money if you look at other manufs: acer, sammy, lg, belinea, etc.
tbh I dont think the dells are massively better than much else nowadays.
Ill look at the acers, ta.
I got 2 Sammy 17" atm and theyve been wicked except for 1 stuck pixel so I might have another one.
Personally Id wait till Hanns G release their 22" - best quality for money Ive seen. Its out in Europe but not here yet - fantastic quality monitors though.
Samsung 226BW

Thats pricey. If you cant stretch to that, the LG l226wt is as good, damn as near it anyway. And its £200 or less most places (thats dropped £50 since I was looking at buying it a month ago!)
i would reccomend a benq.
Aye, theyre pretty good too. TBH though all 22" monitors are pretty similar around the £200 mark. They all use the same TN panel, so the decision comes down to price, looks, DVI etc and warrantee.
TBH whatever you get youll be happy with unless its faulty, and you wouldnt be able to tell any difference unless you sat them all next to each other and studied them for half an hour. Monitors are funny things; people always like to split hairs and find out which is the best of the best, but in the end its very hard to tell the difference between two monitors with the same panel.
one of my mates has one of these ASUS MW221U (http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Displays/Monitors/TFT+20%22+%26+21%22/ASUS+MW221U+22%27%27+TFT+-+Widescreen?productId=26131)
not the best, but the picture is decent and the monitor doesnt look massive. Im considering one myself after seeing his.
Ive been using this for a few months now :
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-006-BE
Would have prefered a couple of USB ports instead of the speakers, but theyre okay to listen to the radio on. Not suitable for gaming/music though.
I play tons of WoW, a little CS:S, and Ive never seen a hint of ghosting.
If you do get one, spend a little time sorting the contrast out, and dont be afraid to play with the tilt, its a little stiff.
That looks good wg.
If I ever get the 3 pay checks my company still owe me Ill have one
LG L226WT (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?LG-L226WT)
Thats a better monitor, with DVI for the same price. Isnt in stock though.
Amazing how cheap TFTs are now. My Dell was £800 when I got it.
Nige - stop being tight and get a TFT :)
When my 22" NEC explodes you can bet Ill be going Dell :-)
Well theyve pulled the 2407wfp from their website now, so you can bet theres probably a new 24" model coming any day now :P
[edit] actually its back up now, and £750
Uber bargain @ ebuyer (http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/128036).

No, my company still owes me ~£800 :(
Im leaning towards the sammy tho.
If you dont mind dropping to 20" this sammy (http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/113148) is a good deal at the moment.
£168.58 del with google, around £100 less than the 22"
I bought a 15" when I shoulda got a 17", I bought 17"s when I shoulda got 19"s so I decided to go big as possible this time, got this coming on monday :w00t:

Cheaper ones dont seem to have dvi or height-adustment. Dont no one tell me otherwise :D
Whoa.
Colours are really vibrant, like trippy colourful and its really bright. I need to play with the gamma and stuff.
Its big.
Blacks are good, way better than my old one.
Downsides:
The backlight is slightly uneven, I reckon getting the brightness right will minimise that tho.
700mb avis just dont cut it anymore :D
Getting the right balance can be a pain but lots of tweaking
Im still using a Sony 21" CRT but Oblivion does look rather nice @ 1920 1440
Im playing Oblivion on a 47" 1080p TV monitor and thats impressive
I just bought a LG 226WTQ today and I wish Id consulted you guys first before buying. It was only £200 though.

i wont go back to D-Sub as my Monitor connection.
