Can someone spec me out a basic and cheap-as kit for doing the ccna? Im gonna do the two seperate exams as soon as Im done with my mcsa but I need a new switch so might as well start buying stuff now..

Apparently I need 2 routers that have the latest 12.4 IOS and a switch and some cables?

I aint got a clue what to be looking for and what to pay - theres routers on ebay for £25 and then theres ccna kits for £100s..

also maybe a cheap rack..

To run 12.4, you will likely need a newish device with enough memory. A 2621XM is a decent enough start, but theyre end of life so you wont get any support on them. And you cant download IOS without a valid login or support contract.

For CCNA, all you need is a study guide and a router sim. I did mine using CBT nuggets years ago, but I have a lot of practical experience. Its pretty easy. CCNP is when you start to need lab gear.

does anyone know where I can get a cheap ass 26xx router? Ive seen the sims but Ive rather have the real thing - would a 2610 be ok? Theyre £30 and I just want something I can get the hang of IOS on..

I got a cisco 1800 I dont use if you want to borrow it.

you want at least an XM.

Youll also need a support contract to download IOS images, or get them from someone who has (Might be some other sources too)

You dont need any kit for a CCNA though, its very basic.
