Why are you not considering the infinitely superior N70, with a proper Operating System ?

Imo there is nothing "better" about a nokia.  They lost their edge to SE and Samsung Years ago.

Quote from: JaimzIf you dont want the gimmick of the w800i get a k750i. Its essentially the same phone, just without the walkman. I find the UI on Samsung mobiles a bit too simplistic and the cameras not particularly crisp (especially in comparison with the SE cams)

Jaimz

I think I still prefer the SE menus, but I am quite impressed with what samsung have come up with none the less, it works very well.

I also am trying to avoid the "gimmick" of a walkman phone.  I think Im going to look at the K800 for my next phone, if teh T610 lasts that long.

I cant help but think its going to be inevitable that music players and phones are going to become 1 device over the next few years.  Well if microsoft have anything to do with it...

Quote"In five years are people really going to carry two devices? One device that is their communication device, one device that is music? Theres going to be a lot of opportunities to get back in that game. We want to be in that game. Expect to see announcements from us in that area in the next 12 months.

Personally Im quite happy to carry, 2 dedicated individual products, an SE and an ipod for example.   Im not at all keen on the idea of one product that cant do a better job that either of them.

What qualifies that statement as fact? Further, Im after phone, not a media centre PC in my pocket.

I dont like the idea of a jack of all trades phone either, actually.

IMO Nokias in general are unreliable, I wouldnt trust this N70 one moreso.

There is a distinction to be made here from nokias and series 60 and N series nokias that run symbian. Thise phones are probably better than the non symbian nokias.

The N70 runs symbian - therefore you have access to a lot of software - it has a much, much faster cpu than any of the dumb flashy phones. Symbian is a reliable, stable platform.

The flashy dumb phones have no edge over the symbian nokias. They dont have a proper OS, and therefore a lot more limited than the symbian smartphones. Can you play NES, spectrum, etc etc games, run a VNC or terminal services client on the latest mp3/flashlight/slidy keypad phone? Can you get a flashylights/mp3 player/slidy keypad phone with a built in 4GB hard disk yet? (I dont know the answer to that last question myself - but one of the N series has)

Windows mobile is good as well - I run it on my Axim x51v.

Although it is all by the by I suppose - as long as it makes calls i dont care..

Have you got this Samsung yet, CO?

Samsung do Windows Smartphones with both a 3gb and a 4gb HDD inside.

My new phone thats on its way to me will be my 3rd windows based mobile.
Ive tried a symbian phone and it really annoyed me, (it was an N-Gage though)  Windows phones just seem to do everything I want a phone to do, as well as make calls, it syncronises with outlook seamlessly.  My contacts, calender and tasks are instantly copied across.  I can play all my emulators on there, watch DIVX, and make the odd phonecall as well as browse "Het Internet"

:D

Probably if theres a java emulator out there. Yes I can connect to remote desktop using my w550i, and sadly not on my phone but I dont even use the full 4gb hard disk I have in my PDA let alone my phone memory.

It will never be a patch on my XDA Mini S.

The software is simple, easy to install, smooth and effective, so thats a big thumbs up. USB connection has been very effective, although its not USB 2.0 speed its good enough for a phone.

The screen clarity is unbelievable. Ive uploaded a 240x320 size jpeg wallpaper and it looks amazing, better than on my monitor screen. Ive not tried MP3 playback or video yet, but I doubt Ill find fault.

I really love this phone

;) Im currently loving streaming music from my wireless network onto my phone :D

Is it the 600 you can connect to the idiot lantern??
