Can I stop Windows 7 searching for wireless networks all the time?

My internet keeps freezing (chrome and firefox), and it seems to be when windows is searching/trying to connect to other networks.

When I un-tick connect automatically, everything runs smooth again, but it soon picks the connection back up.

Cheers :)

Disable wireless zero config service? Not sure if it's called the same on 7.

Try disabling WLAN AutoConfig in Windows 7: go to Services, find WLAN AutoConfig, and set it to Disabled.
This will stop Windows from constantly scanning for and automatically reconnecting to wireless networks.
