Just after some suggestions really.
Im basically contemplating upgrading my phone. I tend to not use my phone for calls *that* much, and I have had a PDA in the past which didnt get used *that* much, but I figure having the best of both in one place might be handy, and Im finding more and more that having email access and notes etc would be v.useful.
Now, I know "none-smartphone" phones do have email and notes etc. My K810i does. But as it doesnt have wifi, and only a phone keypad, doing much more than getting headers can take a long time and get costly. Similarly notes are a bind as it takes a bit too long to put anything in other than 3 word notes.
I was just wondering, as I know quite a few of you guys have got, or have had, smart phones, if you have any recommendations on brands and models. Doesnt have to be state of the art, and if theres a good solid older model that im likely to find as a refurb, even better!
Cheers guys.
if youre gonna use it for email, get a blackberry.
None of the other devices have a proper email search.
Id go with an XDA series phone - so thatll limit you to O2... or if you want non-fancy shells (I love the outside on my HTC Polaris/XDA Orbit II) go with any HTC device.

Or the T-Mobile Vario range, or the Orange SPV range....
Blackberry Curve, just for the keyboard.

T-Mobile seem to only supply the default shells with the HTC devices.
Orange SPVs look like ass.
Im on O2 at the moment so hopefully if I can wait till my contracts up at the end of the year I will be able to sort out an xda. I was wondering about the HTCs, Ive not really looked at mobiles in a while so I was still only really aware of the few big names like SE, nokia and motorola!
Ill be the odd one out and recommend the Nokia N95 8GB. :)

If you are on O2, can deal with abysmal battery life, the lack of a copy and paste, slightly creepy "location announcement" bollocks and perhaps own a mac...
You can get a 3g iphone for £35 a month + £99
Heh, so the iphone is only marginally more expensive than an XDA?!?!
I see O2 has the Orbit and Stellar. Couldnt really tell much difference between them other than the stellar seemed a little cheaper and has a pull out qwerty keyboard, which would be cool? Or is there a reason why its cheaper?
I dont own a mac, and never intend on doing so, so an iPhone is out the question anyway. the only apple product I like is the ipod really, though I preferred the old iRiver H320 (before I blew it up by reversing my chargers polarity)

I have an orbit and the touch input methods are amazing to be honest. No longer need to stab at a keyboard with a tiny stylus. Other added benefit of the orbit would be GPS, not sure if the stellar comes with it.
Stellar = slide out keyboard = bulkier.
Orbit = slim, fits in pocket, on screen keyboard.
http://www.my-xda.com/xda_comparison.jspId go for the orbit to be honest :)
Stuck record here!
HTC Tytn II/HTC Kaiser/XDA Stellar/MDA Vario III/
Ohh what about the HTC Touch? My dad just got one of those, its absolutely tiny.
