Title: Spring clean time
Post by: Shakey on October 08, 2006, 23:33:26 PM
Lo peeps.

Its getting to that time of yer when I give the old HD a bit of a spring clean of the crap that tends to accumulate with a Windows install.

Ive done the usual emptying of tempory files and uninstalling of stuff I never use, but I want more God dammit!

Does anyone know of any good software to help me ientify things such as u-needed system files. Im rather looking for something not called "Windows-super-amazing registry & system cleaner pro XP 2.1", though thats all I can find with a quick Google search.

Ta.

ccleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/) is an ok freeware one and
jv16 (http://www.jv16.org/) is fully working for a 30 day trial period.

have a look for treesize, itll tell you the sizes of folders on your disks. you can then see where youre storing most stuff.

useful little tool, not just for spring cleaning.
