Why do they have to make stuff so crap? I just dled a demo for a racing game (10mins to find the demo, 10secs to find a pirated copy btw  ) and it installed Steam too. Except it hasnt installed either properly. Theres no progra~1 folder for the demo game and Steam tries and fails to update itself.

So I fix the steam bit and now it wants me to register. To play a bloody game demo.

I did that and now I get an 5 screens of adverts and a little app in my taskbar.

And after all that the demo doesnt even show up on the list.

People buy things from this company?? lol

Steam is a great peice of software, well it was alot better when it was purely value / HL stuff as its now slightly bloaty.

I dont get any adverts or popups, the taskbar icon runs so you can open quickly and keeps games updated. Only adverty bit I can see in the whole thing is when you go to the shop section and tbh i would expect it there

Its a memory hog tho! A horrible big memory hog with a clumpy GUI!

But!

It is nice having CS, TF2 and Others updated for those occasions where I fancy blowing up small annoying children, especially in CS

I already have something that can open games quickly and update them. Its called the Start Menu.

not a fan - didnt stay on my machine very long.

I removed the games because of steam.  Should be optional really but guess theyre protecting their investment.  It does downloads but really its an antipiracy tool.

Before it you had to find and communicate an IP address with your mates.

The key fact that I own that Game CD code "forever", that I never need the CD again, anywhere is just a big Plus.
