PSP - Base Pack OR Value Pack?
on: November 23, 2006, 11:52:27 AM
Hi guys, want to get a white PSP today while im out, not sure what all the packs mean to be honest, some offer more bits then the other?

Am i correct in thinking the value pack is better then the base pack?

Also is there anything to worry about in terms of the firmware they come as in stopping me from doing stuff like emulation etc on the psp?

Any help will be great, saves me the hassle before i leave shortly

Buying a new psp now will stop you from using emulation as far as i know, there is a constant battle between sony and the soft-modders.  Depends what firmware the psp is currently running.

One thing i will say is, do you really want a psp, i have one and it has been sat in a drawer for at least 2 months.

There just isnt the games for it. I am holding on to mine on the off chance they start releasing some decent old rpgs for it.

Your best bet is to go find an old psp with an older firmware that allows you to run homebrew stuff.

Id have to agree. Try and get your hands on an older version. The amount of games out there isnt really amazing, and some big name games are just dreadful.

I love the console though, but thats because i have a older version.

Something to bear in mind.. I had a go on one a while back and it was pretty impressive tho.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

looks like i saved myself getting kippered!

went into game to see if i can grab a PSP bundle;

- Black PSP Giga Pack - None
- Black PSP Value Pack - None
- Black PSP Value Pack + GTA:VCS & Midnight Club 3 Dub - None

- White PSP Value Pack - Not sold by sony anymore (BS!)
- White PSP Base Pack - None
- White PSP Base Pack + same 2 games - None

Wtf is going then, is it that sh*t that sellers are no longer increasing stock?

White PSPs where in virgin, but lame prices, its a joke.

So whats the deal with the firmware, if it isnt 1.5 i cant doing anything on to play emulation or the like?

Sony are a bunch of tossers regarding thier PSP, really annoyed me. The Playstation Portable should have been simply a portable playstation with those old games, ds graphics are good enough, who needs all this NURBS garbage and what not

The psp is probably the best piece of kit on the market for pure power and capabilities.

It has the most potential to do so much!!

But sony just dont seem to care, tbh i dont think they can afford to develop or run network stuff for it because of the ps3, if sony dont bow out of the games market soon i fear for the company as they aint exactly the big name they used to be in any field these days

You can run emulators and homebrew stuff on any firmware up to 2.80 using the eLoader. The main reason most people want firmware 1.5 is so that they can run PSP game backups.

You can downgrade PSPs with firmware 2.71 or below to a lower firmware and there is a Custom 2.71 firmware available that gives you all the features of the Official 2.71 firmware and also all the homebrew features of 1.5.

If you arent bothered on the colour, I have a black base pack for sale with firmware 2.71. I have used the PSP for about 3 hours max and the other stuff in the box hasnt been used.
