Someone asked about this several months ago, seems in order to switch it off properly you have to download M$ tweakui and that lets you switch it off for whatever drive you want, or indeed all CD or removeable drives. So now when I plug in my backup drive it doesnt go and try to look all the way through it

Now whats the way to keep it from  asking if youre sure every single time you toss a file??

One can go to diskmanagement and have it mount to and empty folder of yer choice and then remove the drive letter.

Erase the disk and dont save any files on it

Really works great I have my USB HDD mount to C:\USBHDD and my Dell stick to C:\USBDELL works a charm, no questions asked and content shows up in said folders.

w00t, xp power toys was what I was looking for to tweak this lappie, as its getting used 50/50 xp/ubuntu. Surprising how nippy a new XPpro install is when you cut the beeatch down, even on 750mhz/256mb.

Running ccleaner once in a while helps a lot
