zpyder I'm with you, it's all very well just building a biblical ark or something with OP powers, but it kinda ruins the mining bit  :tinhat:

In it's current incarnation, it's not possible to have two simultaneous worlds.  You can switch between the two though and have your own sets of rules for each.  It's simple to do though the MineOS gui.

I'm happy to let a select few have access to the backend of the MineOs server, then you can choose your own worlds, op's and etc.

Thinking about it, is it possible to get the server to run 2 worlds, or is that too much? It'd be good to have whatever it is you have at the moment (i've not really been following it) but also an "oldschool" world where there are no op powers, and anything built has to be done using the resources available.

I'd love to build something up with others where we have a farm with food production going, good weapons and tools and train tracks to different projects, and go on "raiding" parties into the dungeons to clear them out and strip them of resources. And a thread here to keep track of what people are doing/planning/need help on?

I was thinking exactly this, it does get boring quickly when there are no goals or targets, having a creative world to prat around on and a serious one for collective farming/mining and production seems ideal. It will stop the inevitable and literal TNT destruction of worlds.

I usually nerf tnt anyway.

MineOS is good for all this stuff anyway as it does incremental backups, easy integration with bukkit mods and mapping.

I think it would be better for my server to be the sensible world, as it's backed up, and have someone else run a manic world where you can do what you want.
This computer/internet connection doesn't have the BHP.  Maybe when I move I can host both but for now I'm limited.

Here's the list of bukkit mods.

If we start fresh, no op's, are there any mods you'd like to see?

Bacon

F*ck me i put all the hard work lastnight in making Hotel Bacon and now your going to wipe it!

I was up all night using OP Commands!  :muttley:

You can reset the map, i don't mind but i would like to still keep Flight command using "Gamemode "Name" 1" if that is possible as sometimes it gets a bit much getting swarmed with mobs and then i just get bored and don't play it for 3 months.

PS. I thought i was the only one still playing it!

I'm in both camps here really, last night I was messing around and mostly blowing stuff up and using the cheat, but the day before I was building my own house, no cheating and pure mining, and there is a sense of achievement in that. I think we need a common goal and all to be on the server at the same time, it can get boring if you are the only one on there!

I'm happy to run the chaos world on my server, even copy the current map across so Bacon doesn't have to re-build :P

However it will be running on the Microserver, it seemed to run Ok with a couple of users, but there wasn't a lot of digging as it had the fairground map on it?

Maybe see how it copes first before going to all the bother? If there is a real demand for it then I can put my AMD X2 system too good use, but I don't want it zapping the electric if it's not being used! As kind of defeats the purpose of me getting the microserver!

Feel free to have a play and see if the microserver works ok: tekcraft2.servegame.com

The lag only happens when you use lots of TNT, spawn lots of monsters or create massive gaping holes in the world down to the bedrock (which we were guilty of last night), so I think as long as it doesn't go overboard it should be fine, I'd say it would probably be better to have the chaos/experimental/mod server running on the faster machine for that reason. Lag shouldn't really occur with normal play.

If its helpful I'll set up tekcraft/minecraft2.tekforums.net

If it's linking to my server I'm happy to leave the current domain I have as it's one of two domains that are syncing on the server anyway, so if the IP changes the domain with auto update, I expect you wont get that with the tek one? Although TBH I have no idea how often virgin give me a new IP on cable, I don't think it's very often!

Clock'd 0Ne

Cable doesn't change IPs very often but since yours auto-updates anyway its not really worth putting an A record on.

Bacon

I'm not to worried about the Hotel, its go dry rot, and i have plans for bigger and better!

New map up and running, but you probably won't see me for a while.

I've discovered project zomboid.

zpyder

I started playing again if this is an "op-less" world. Started to dig a spiral staircase down from the hut someone built, if you follow it down it gets to a MASSIVE underground lava chamber.

interestingly when I was exploring there's a massive chasm on the map :D
