El Jacko

One film I might actually have to make a point of going to see at the cinema

Goblin

Im so conflicted about this. T3 was terrible compared to 1&2 and this is written by the same guy. Its directed by McG (Charlies Angels and The OC) and though I kinda like the first Charlies Angels it really isnt the style you associate with Terminator.

Then, on the other hand, Christian Bale is in it and he is rapidly approaching my favourite actor of all time. Im afraid that my desire for him to continue making only great movies is clouding my assumption that it will be any good.
It's all fun and games until a 200' robot dinosaur shows up and trashes Neo-Tokyo... Again.

He turns down lots of films and only goes for what he thinks will do him justice and be worth doing, American phsyo may not be to everyones liking but if you actually watch it more then once you see how in depth it actually is and the effort he put into it.

I am having faith in this one. T3 script wise in terms of the plot outline was not that bad, its failing was to try and replicate the first 2 movies concepts which has been done and 2 variations and a 3rd felt tired. With just the basic concepts and free reign to explore parts of the story not yet seen.
I will keep the faith for now.

I agree wholeheartedly. Whilst T3 was never going to be as good as T1 and T2 it would have still been a very enjoyable addition to the franchise were it not for a few points, from my own point of view Kristanna Loken being an awful "evil" Terminator and Arnie coming back were both things that really detracted from the film. I can excuse Arnie coming back because its a case of "damned if you do, damned if you dont" as far as casting is concerned, a lot of people would have turned their noses up at it if he hadnt reprised his performance. But damn, the evil Terminator woman was bloody awful. The Terminators in The Sarah Connor Chronicles were far better than she was.

T4 will do well on the fact that theyve set it after the nuclear war, which is exactly where they should have started with T3. Ive got high hopes for it.

Yeah, I think you hit it on the head not just in the arnie sense.
You were dammed if you do and dammed if you did not do the film as it was. Skynet being software did not 100% sit fully with me, at least have a home for it to exist... Anyway it were dammed if you broke off the track from one and two and you were dammed if you did not as seen which lead to a movie not as good as the first 2. Basically there were stuck and going with the old tracked and did not work well but then it was always not going to.
You also had the Arnnie influence in that movie, the silly talk to the hand and glasses moments you know where things he wanted.

I think the biggest thing that was sh*te as you mentioned was the casting - it was just piss poor.

Hello? epilepsy warning?  :gag:

Pete

I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Im for one glad its not officialy being reffered to as "terminator 4" as quite clearly the focus has gone away from the single terminator model and the bigger story of the war.  Its clear its something different, not just a continutation of the movies.

Tis looking good. Might actually be one of the few films I see this year at the cinema (like I see maybe 1 or 2 a year!).
