Change the battery on your MB for starters.

The battery itself isnt very old, iv only been using this motherboard for about 6 months, i thought the battery lasted longer than that? i have done a virus check & spyware check aswell, didnt find any viruses

Yarr, batteries do last a couple years usually. Was there a power surge after the outage? There could be small gremlins that entered the MB during that.

do you have:

a) a dead motherbboard backup battery

b) reset your bios/cmos and not set the clock again

c) a shuttle/nforce 3 board and the unfortunate problem that appears after a power spike where the system goes to hell.

Id guess one of those as they\re the usual causes.  Just hope you\re not in the latter category.
