Title: To SLI or not to SLI?
Post by: Shakey on May 29, 2006, 20:07:54 PM
OK, so Im at the end of my degree and have a wad of student load left over. Ive decided that upgrading the graphics in my PC would be a good way to reward my self for surviving 4 years of degree hell. But I have options, and Im not sure which would be best. Do I:

1) Get another 6800GS to go with my current one in SLI, or
2) Get a cheap (Ã,£200-ish) 7800/7900 to replace it?

I know getting the 7x00 gives me the option of sli-ing that later, but which of the two options give best performance now? Feel free to give any opinions on other options you think up too  :)

for sli you need to have profiles for games, and tbh, getting a single more powerful card is useful as you have the other card free to go in something else

though you dont get to brag about having an sli system

The idea about getting a better card would mean selling my current one to get the extra money over a second to be able to afford it. So no spare cards happen unfortunately.
