I am currently building a new computer (for the first time) and this is the set up I have been looking at (although I have not bought any of the parts at the moment):

Could anybody recommend a motherboard? Also any comments and adivse about the parts I am looking at currently would be appreciated (for example is that RAM I am looking at a bit to cheep, should I go for a better version?).

not sure on the m/b... in not really in the loop on intel stuff...

but id go for some better ram.... maybe something by Corsair ?  itll be twice the price... but its worth it

its sometimes worth it, but in some cases there is no point.  Unless you are buying right at the top of the range why would you pay twice the price if you dont need to?

Im using cheap Elixir RAM at the moment, and to be fair I cant fault it.  When I bought Corsair was still £80 for the ValueRam if i wanted 2Gb.  The Cheap stuff was £40 in total, and it works fine.  If it dies within 12 months its a straight swap, if it dies after that ill just drive up to Scan and buy some more when im out Bolton way.  The timings are the same as the Cheap Corsair/Kingston and the like as well.

Strangely I have never had problems with cheap ram, although the overclocking potential is inevitably low.

It can be a PITA when you have a faulty stick and have to diagnose it. Plus Corsair have their lifetime warranty, which is fantastic.

So do crucial, and Ive found their prices now to be in line with mid-range brands.
