White Giant

Every few months or so I find a track that I consider might define how I feel, or something Im interested in.

Mine are (and why) :

Manic Street Preachers - You Love Us (The first gig I ever went to was the Manics, this song was amazing and everytime I listen to it I feel the excitment of that night).

Guano Apes - Stay (A recent addition to my list, it reminds me of the places/times I was most happy - damn Im getting old).

Adema - Everyone (Lost my virginity to this song, nuff said).

Blink 182 - Stay Together For The Kids (My parents divorcing was a big thing in my life, so many of the lyrics really hit home).

Creed - My Sacrifice (When I hear this, I feel like theres something more I could do, not sure why).

Flogging Molly - Selfish Man (Reminds me of a few mental friends I had in Uni, and getting smacked in the head by them in pits   ).

Andrew WK - Party Hard (Same as Selfish Man).
Four Star Mary(Dingos ate my babies! - 10 points for the reference) - Dilate (Reminds me of the missus   ).

Limp Bizkit - Counterfeit (When I was at uni I was part of the Rock Society, I was constantly mocked for my love of nu-metal/emo, yet when this song came on all the long hair old metalers got up and danced).

Steps - Deeper Shade of Blue (Christ this is a depressing song if you listen to the lyrics and ignore the pop-ness of it. Reminds me of a time when I was a horrible person to be around - but LSL /drool)

Foo Fighters - Everlong (I have no love for the Foos, but this song is amazing, brilliant to sit back and listen to whilst completely smashed).

NIN - Closer (Sweaty nights in a dirty pub in Wales, everytime I hear this I feel 19 again).

NoFX - Always Hate Hippies (One song I always tried to learn on the guitar, but I was too drunk during practice, great times).

The Cranberries - Zombie (The first and only song I learnt to properly play on the guitar).

Good Charlotte - Hold On (I enjoy depressing music, and whilst this is depressing it has a positive overtone).

Radiohead - True Love Waits (I genuinly believe this to be one of the best songs ever written, the pure despair coupled with useless hope reflects quite a few times in my life).

Offspring - The Kids Arent Alright (Whilst not entirely accurate, it depicts a similar area/attitude to that which I grew up in).

Pulp - Mishapes (Describes how I felt throughout most of my teenage years).

Staind - Outside(Live with Fred Durst) (Some good memories, some not so good. Reminds me of someone I was once close to).

System Of A Down - Spiders (Odd song, very powerful vocals triggered something in me when I was younger, made me quite aggressive at the time).

Treephort - Eat Blazing Electric Death Bitch (Reminds me of the first girl I ever fell for, I channeled my aggression towards her as I had never felt like that before).

Underoath - When The Sun Sleeps (Perhaps the best example of emo performed in such a way that anyone with a muscial ear cannot help but feel something. Again, reminds me of a tough time in my life).

Wheatus - A Little Respect (I sang this at the top of my voice with a few mates in a really quiet pub on my 18th birthday. Its kind of the time I realised I wasnt a kid anymore, and that sh*t happens and I have to deal with it).

/makes playlist.

So, what are yours, and why?

soopahfly

lol WG... similar tracks to yours mine are I reckon.

NIN - Closer - Old friends, Metros (a craphole in cardiff but cheap drink).

NIN - Right where it belongs - My outlook on life.

Something Corporate - I Kissed a Drunk Girl: The song that defined my teenage years, too caught up in whats right instead of just enjoying life. Made me the idealistic fool I am today.

Muse - Map of the problematique/SuperMassiveBlackhole and the rest of that album: had the best sex of my life whilst the album was playing in the background, the music just made it so much better.

Jack off Jill - Fear of Dying: My teenage years nuff said.

The Offspring - Kids arent alright: first song that dragged me kicking and screaming from dance music and into rock/punk.

The Offspring - Amazed: Yet another outlook song during my darkest times.

The Cat Empire - Two Shoes: A fun song, makes me smile everytime I hear it.

Korn - ADIDAS: Memories of being in sixth form blaring this song out from a tiny stereo with speakers singing along with some mates :D

Lost Prophets - Last Train Home: Friends from home.

Spunge - Skanking Song and Roots: Reminds me of my closest mate.

Garbage - Push It: The one song I want to dance close moves (Jive) to at some point with a nice girl, and know that after... I get to work off all that sexual tension in the bedroom. :D

Status Quo - Caroline: Memories of playing this in school as an impromptu "jam" with some mates who had guitars.

Rob Dougan - Furious Angels: If there is a song that will get my blood boiling with anticipation... its this, or O Fortuna :) Requiem for a dream comes close to this also.

Roni Size - Brown Paper Bag: Played live in a muddy tent. Guy comes on with a double bass and everyone goes nuts :)

Spiller - Groovejet: Worst holiday & gf of my life.

MJ Cole - Sincere: For about 2months garage was the best thing on the planet. Then Craig David & So Solid etc killed it. Halloween & Easter Balls in Bournemouth...

Zero 7 - Destiny: Some things arent meant to be.

Sissor Sisters - Your mamma: I fking hate the scissor sisters but this reminds me of summer days, country roads and a white mini.

Black Eyed Peas - album(?): Driving back from Snowdonia in the 5 with crappy tyres.

Salt n Pepa - Shoop: Upsidedown in a ditch in a squashed car at night in the rain.

Ram Trilogy - Titan: Bass that makes your teeth rattle.

Goldie - State of Mind: My fav tune.

De La Soul - Its All Good: ICQ 98 + random girls + napster.

Faithless - We Come One: Saw them live and for some reason when this tune came on it was awesome.

Leftfield - Leftism: ...Common student activities.

Air - Moon Safari:  ...Common student activities.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Clock'd 0Ne

I wouldnt say any of these are defining, but they bring back fond memories.

Stereophonics - Performance and Cocktails: My [first] g/f had this album on while I was necking her and groping her at 15, good times

Huey Lewis & the News  - Power of Love: this is anthemic for nights out with the lads, always brings back memories of playing it loud on the tube and getting half a carriage singing along

Peter Gariel - Sledgehammer: As above, has become anthemic and synonymous with good times

Ray Parker Jnr - Ghostbusters: Got a gang of mates all doing the Ghostbusters walk through a club in Basingstoke when this came on. Legendary evening.

Kruder Dorfmeister - K&D Sessions: This album was this years summertime favourite, with lots of memories.

Shivaree - Goodnight Moon: Spent good times in an Amsterdam apartment with this playing through a friends iPod. It was a very chilled out week.

Guns N Roses - Sweet Child o Mine: One of my favourite songs and Im determined to ace it on Guitar Hero someday...
