Ive seen it touted in a few places that that clip is nothing to do with the Transformers movie.

That video has nothing to do with the movie.  It was someone showing off their 3d skills.  THere was a much higher resolution version that he released.

The 2nd video is early render footage, very early.  While they were still pitching it Spielberg and before it had been greenlit.

Yes and no.

ILM are approached to do the work or one of the people to do it. They build the concept videos to which they show at a meeting to see if the etheir get the job or if they are working on it - what the movie makers are looking for in terms of style and feel.

Could or could not be the end result but it is for this movie.

The first one if you say so, ok, but the second is.

Either theyre on a really slow server (unlikely) or there are a lot of transformers fans out there who want to see the trailer...

edit: I dont think that was really worth the 10min it took to download, but at least the movie is being made

I only have 1mb till my uprgrade and just clicked, it was ready in 1 minute.

Also, the best news announced at ComicCon in the US is that the voice of Optimus Prime will be back!    All they need now is Leonard Nimoy to reprise Galvatron.  Eric Idle to reprise Wreckgar....  Seriously, this is the best news ever.  There can be only one voice of Optimus and thats his.

That is good news, As I said, Mr SS Himself is not the main man on this but he seems to be a big wheel and I bet hes doing a lot of the work to do the dots on the is etc to get elements like this done
