any one know of something lthat can  recored from a tv card ?

Take a read through the man page (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/man/en/mplayer.1.html#EXAMPLES%20OF%20MENCODER%20USAGE) for mencoder/mplayer, it has an option to dump any video source (tv://numberofchannel) to a new file.

As a starter here is a very hacky bash script that I use to record from the composite input of my TV card (as I have a freeview box plugged into it) using mencoder.

Youll need to alter it to record from TV but it might provide you with some sort of direction.

The usage is as follows:

rtv

For example to record something that is an hour long do:

rtv 01:00:00 tv.mpg
