Hi All,
Looking to add a DVB TV card to my living room media center PC, I wont really be using it for time shifting, or the on board DVB, but more for a video input from my cable box to stream over the network.
Of course it may also be used to record TV but network streaming will be its primary function.
Any advice would be very much appreciated, Oh and £50 is my top end budget but if I can achieve what I need for less then great.
Cheers
Jake
Guessing you mean Cable as NTL/Virgin/etc.
u can have a dedicated DVB-C Card for that.. no need to hook a box up - couple of software hacks
and you can watch the full package for... errrrr.... nowt.

for a card
look aroud for software
MyTheatre, RitzDVB area few, then theres cam plugins you need - all should be easy to
find with some creative googling.
Cheers Egg sounds like an... errrr.... bargain!
Do you know anyone who has actually got this working on Virgin?
I may still go for a twin tuner free view card as I may end up getting rid of Cable TV as I dont watch nearly enough of the channels that I cant get on free view.
Anyone else had any experience with any TV cards? any to steer clear of?
Cheers
Jake
Im well out of the loop on DVB - my last card is a technisat for my old BB
Can you get a HDTV DVB card yet capable of working with sky or is that ever going to happen
Not that I have seen although not been looking but I have seen a compro video mate that apparently supports up to 1080 freeview when it becomes available...
...for the time being it looks like Im probably going to get a Pinnacle 3010IX PCTV Dual Hybrid Pro PVR / PCI Express / DVB-T/Analogue TV Tuner for £17.99 will look in to HD cards later when its available, and look in to the Cable card in the time being for the cable end of things :)
