QuoteFox has just ordered up two more seasons of the Emmy-winning animated series, guaranteeing that Homer, Bart and the rest of the Springfield gang will keep going through a 19th season in 2008. The toon will also mark its 400th episode in May 2007.

It is about time they just gave up really

The should definately give futurama a new series as there is still stories to be done

The simpsons are getting a bit repetitive and they are just attempting shock tactics to make people be interested it doesnt have the charm of the older simpsons eps

The thing they need to do is move on the time line.
The kids need to get older, maggie needs to start talking and getting into her life and have event with her going on, Marge being pregnent again or something.

Some shockers like they get into some money and actualy fully move house and stay there.

Yeah I have to agree with the points made, it has lost some of the charm, the earlier seasons were a golden age for The Simpsons and cartoons in general, they wont ever reach those heights again sadly, I feel.

It still moves the plates though.

Serious

Ive never been that interested in it, tend to put it with soaps, ie do not watch.

Its still the funniest thing on television. Whereas stuff like Family Guy fires off corny jokes like mortars: BOOM........BOOM...................BOOM, the Simpsons layers them in, often adding many dozens of very subtle visual jokes to every episode. Its usually a case of the background jokes being more twisted or regionally american, compared to the big verbal "zingers" that are meant for mass consumption.

Or the Kwik-E-Mart,
And nobody would care,
But the heart and soul
Of Springfields in
Our Maison Derriere!

I was under the impression that there are some new Futuramas on the way.

Afaik Fox ordered another 27eps of Family Guy, after the current season finishes in late April.

Have you watched any of the recent series? Theyve been, without exception, absolutely bloody appaulling. The Simpsons jumped the shark a long time ago. The new episodes very occasionally have their moments but quite honestly I think they should end it now. The fact that youve had to quote a song from season 8 sort of proves my point :)

I wasnt forced to quote anything. I just dont watch them on Sunday, so usually catch 2-3 year old episodes and theyre quite funny. The humor is still there, especially in the visual jokes.

"Family Guy" is sort of like Sarah Silverman--its good schtick, but I dont know if Ill laugh even in four years.

Futurama is great as well, if there had been no Simpsons, there would never had been a futurama.

The Simpsons is a spoof of Ozzy and Harriet, which helps a lot in understanding some of the humor that may slip by most folks. ;)

I quite like the simpsons :) Always gives me a giggle, but then im equally pleased with family guy or american dad, I find futurama a bit boring in that regard. Its nowhere near as "funny" giggle wise as simpsons.

With Simpsons Ill laugh out loud, with futurama is more of a "ha.. thats funny" in my head.

Smugs

Meh Simpsons is ok but its not liked it used to be.

I remembered, I saw the new "My Fair Lady" episode from this season. It was quite good, and conceptually on par with some of the zanier old ones.

I used to watch the simpsons, as far back as 1991 but futurama, its a step up from the simpsons.

I never see the simpsons on sky well not the time im watching it at and thats a factor of not watching it anymore....

I agree with the comments about the simpsons needing to be moving on.... gotten very stale.....
