Post by: Sara on October 30, 2006, 16:35:44 PM
Going to have a go with this after playing with Partition Magic on my new lappy, got a couple of questions...

1) Version 6.10 or 6.06 Long Term Support?

2) How much space does it take up, i.e. how big a partition shall I make for it?

Ta!

you dont need parition magic, 6.10 does it all for you, which is nice, as a result, i couldnt say how much you would need.

Does 6.10 do it all for me even if there are files that need shuffling over to the new partition (which apparently PM can do) though? Im not doing a clean install here, Ill be dual-booting with XP and 45 out of 60gig is taken on the HDD.

I can whip off all the music onto an external drive first but I dunno if I can be arsed... :P

all it will do is partition the drive from the free space and stick Ubuntu on there, its very easy, but very simple, too, unfortunately.

Ive heard bad reports about PM, so i tend not to use it.

Ahh right.

Meh, thats fair enough I suppose. All my music is backed up already anyway should I want to wipe windows, the backup just needs an update :)

So on a total aside, anyone know of any good backup programs which can scan the destination and only backup new/modified files?
