Title: Ventrillo Issue.
Post by: White Giant on February 26, 2007, 13:52:02 PM
Ive got a mate who cant connect to our WoW guilds vent server. He gets the following error :

"unable to resolve the specificed servers DNS/Hostname"

Hes posted a screenshot of the server details etc. and its all spelt correctly and looks fine.

I asked him to tracert to the server, which went perfectly taking 13 hops. I cant think what to do next, any suggestions?

Is he by any chance on a University or moderated connection?

He could try using the IP rather than the hostname?

Many Unis (and companies) filter Vent to stop the network from becoming congested.

Okay, it turned out to be that he had the DNS Client service turned off.

Now he cannot connect to server.

*sigh*
