Yeah I kinda thought that - but then my brother sold his collection last year to a firm that collects them and got about £80.00 for 150 tapes!

Hmmm bit of googling results in alot of Ebay comments but no-where else really. I would see if that company still up and running.

Someone pointed out that a VHS tape has a life span of est 100 years where as CDs can degrade in as little as 5... there might be some use for them somewhere ;)

Yeah Ive heard that before - especially home burnt dvds that can degrade in even less time. Apparently some people have started archiving to VHS.

I might stick the whole collection on for a £1 start and see what happens lol! :D

archiving to VHS? which dumbass decided that that would be a good idea, when HDs are so cheap?

Rivkid

Well dont get me wrong here Im not about to start doing it!  :D

However I do understand their logic. If I had video footage that I needed to keep safe for long periods of time like say 30+ years Id take VHS over a HD any day. Come on which of the two is really likely to work better after sitting in a vault or whatever for so long?

it was slightly popular 10-15 years ago, when hard disks wee far from cheap. 1GB used to be almost £1000 from what I remember.

red

make some wallets/handbags out of them and charge 40 quid a pop to designery types like myself.

Over a thousand, and you had to buy a pair of Quantum 512MB hard disks to do it. I remember salivating over their image :D . And that was back in 1993, pretty much exactly fifteen years ago.
