its not, vista is stupidly different, the pricks at MS changed Vista to much, also most apps I use dont work, ill be formatting and putting XP back on.

the arrow to the right of the off button will give you the switch off button. What is fun is that Stephen at work puts his into sleep and it will randomly wake and play music from media player for no apparent reason with nothing else updating or anything.

I hate files and exploring etc in vista, its horrible with you dragging and dropping and it shoving into folders you do not want to, cumbersome to use and VERY slow in file transferring. Do not get me started on the so called easier networking or the indexing, lol.

Well I love vista :D Took some getting used to, but its all good now.

I get them officially for free, and im STILL trying to avoid using vista like a bad case of cockrot.

i love vista, because it makes me a fortune when people ring me and ask me to put XP on for them  :w00t:

vista is dire as an OS tho, soo slow and bloated.

Same here. Ive had it installed for over a year now, it boots up much faster than XP ever did and  never had any problems with it.

We have a vista machine in the office just to RDP onto tbh. As if some guy or girl calls up then we know how to use it.

Tbh Id have to upgrade my home computer to put vista on it.

Same opinion here. Takes some getting used to over XP and there are some mild annoyances but it works absolutely fine.

I agree. Im in the process of reorganizing a relatives PC [PCworld told her to System Restore, which she did] and after wrestling with it for a while Im tempted to install XP...vista is just too cumbersome and too hard to use.

How can you find vista to hard? Exactly the same options as XP with a few added extras. I made the jump when I got the new shuttle gaming system from XP to vista ultimate 64 bit and it works like a dream, the driver support is a lot better for this system than xp was, granted a few of the xp options have moved or are now a few extra clicks away but once you get up and running with it, it works a treat.

Obviously vista on older computers causes issues as I had with a few at work but tbh its all scare scaremongering with vista. I was the same refusing to make the jump and when I got a copy of vista ultimate I gave it a try and never looked back.

Vista is a nice operating system.

I do enjoy using it, but there are some absolutely awful changes.

Networking is now a maze of pop up windows.

Renaming add/remove programs to programs and features, which moves it to somewhere completely different.

The explorer changes making it difficult to do things that were very easy to do without having to do something extra.

But overall I think it is an improvement on xp when you get used to it.

Got vista? In a network with another vista machine?
That machine has no file sharing or access rights for you to access it?
Darn?
Nope.
If its been set up that your an admin just do \\computername\C$ Your in - full access to all files. It is odd as this is supposed to be off by default and in some cases it is but often you will find that it is on.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System. Add a new DWORD called "LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy" and give it a value of 1. Reboot and yer done! to turn it on though.
