Vista Ultimate 32bit Upgrade to vista ultimate 64bit upg, using same key possible?

I seen a cheap copy of vista ultimate 32bit on a microsoft affiliated student software site.

Ive seen with the full version you can just use the same key for 32bit, that you can with the 64bit version.

This copy is an upgrade and not the full version. Is it possible to upgrade from the 32bit ultimate upgrade to 64 bit upgrade, if i just get hold of the right media.

Or would I need to buy a completely new license?

you cant upgrade from 32bit to 64bit... you have to format :(

dont know if the 32bit keys work in 64bit... i doubt they do :(

My old MSDN Ultimate key was interchangeable.

Its the upgrade disk Im on about. Sorry should have made it more clear.

Ive heard a few people say they have just used the 32bit and got the 64bit media and it has work ok. But this was on a full version not an upgrade.

No, they are different licence keys so you would need a new license key if you have 64 bit

No, but this is the solution - You need to contact MS and tell them that you want to order a copy of Vista 64 on DVD and as far as i know they will ask for your current 32-bit CD Key and your system manufacturer etc and the new actual 64 bit version is free to you because you have already purchased a copy of vista before etc then i think all you have to pay for then is the cost of the shipping, usually something like $14 etc.

wrong. pidgen.dll is the same in both 32 and 64 bit; the key will work regardless of architecture.

I know that XP 64 uses a different key to 32 version, I was getting very angry before when all I could find was 32 keys in my records :(
