Right, I have gotten meself a new sip phone and it is working well, on its own. I want to try some more with voip but need some pointers, Ill throw some questions out there and let you (please) answer them.
1. Is there any product (open source preferably) that will allow me to use several softphones on one network with pbx functionality (in that you call people on one number (0207 XXXXXX) but you can have extensions for the many phones that you have. And if so, what would it run on....any for Windows?
2. Where would I get a range of phonenumbers if something like the above existed?
3. What service providers offer concurrent logins into accounts (like skype does) from more than one device.
These questions arent in any coherent order and there will be plenty more I am sure.
If it makes little sense then I am sorry, but itll just be me trying to explain myself :D
Cheers

Asterisk, theres a windows port but its extremely buggy. Better to use the Asterisk@Home stuff. (Not used myself just heard good things about it).
Itll do PBX goodies, and allow multiple extensions and lines.
As for multiple phone numbers, if using domestic providers youd need an account for every one. If using a business provider you may be able to get away with it with them, but no idea to what provider does what.
Trixbox is what youre after for ease of setup - and to your second question - you dont need to worry about that - the PBX signs in to your account so the devices on the system all have access to the trunk.
Asterisk is the one I kleep hearing good things about. I was selling a rival product last year and we got creamed by it. Mind you ours was crap to be fair....
DONT BUY AYC TELECOM!!!
