Its called use default gateway on remote network or something iirc. VPN properties, Network, TCPIP4, Properties, Advanced or something.

Its called split tunneling.

If I was you, Id use a proper VPN rather than windows!

It will work if you untick that box though

Can you provide more detail? What routing kit have you got at both places? May be able to rig up an IPSec jobby with even some SOHO kit thatd be better...

hmmm, what kind of stuff can I do with a vpn ?

I only set it up so i could drag and drop files from one machine to another after the ftp server i setup on the work machine kept crashing....

as for hardware... Ive a Thomson tg585v7 at each end, which iirc is a netgear router with a re-worked firmware by Be (isp)

tho Ill have a cisco.....(cant remember the model) at home soon (as recommended by marc)

Ive set up a dyndns account and linked it to work, and have it setup on the router to update
and have remote desktop setup too

but I need to format the work machine sometime and reinstall the cctv software so i can setup the remove viewer at home,,,, right now all i can do is remote in and watch / have it listen for motion detection etc..

all I really want is for an alarm to go off on my home pc (and maybe mobile phone to be added later) if it picks up motion in certain areas...

the factory is in a bit of a rough area, the cctv has kept it pretty safe since i installed it... but with the credit crunch etc.. theres been a lot more break-ins locally... so I thought Id step it up a notch ;)

what speed is the broadband at the factory?

I have a load of old 837s that you could site to site VPN with back to your new 877.

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,300 / 6,068

I was going to look into reconfiguring it / tuning it / whatever to increase the up speed a bit... thats all I really need from there to stream the cctv ?

if thats not enough, Ill jump onto the pro package, which should double my up speed :o

also, does anyone know how to disconnect from remote desktop, and have the other machine log back in ?  so it doesnt sit at the enter password screen ?

I made a batch file with "tscon.exe 0 /dest:console" in it, which is supposed to do it.... and it does log me out of the remote session... but it doesnt log the local machine back in.....

apparently its "tscon.exe 1 /dest:console" (1 instead of 0) for vista and 7, but that does nothing at all :o

yes, youll be able to access resources as if you were there

Depending on what ACLs and encryption rules you set up etc.
