Im just about to buy some web hosting so ive been checking over all the existing threads covering the subject.
EtglobalSolution ... Going down hill and having problem
BluGuy and CreativeSell ... now not what they were
Everyone agreed with godaddy.co.uk for reliability and value?
Just thought id post to verify and save anyone else the trouble of searching.
Its what Im going for as soon as I can confirm im no longer with ETGS :)
I will likely switch to Godaddy when my term is over.
Had enough of bedroom hosting now tbh... although ETGlobal have never let me down, personally.
The only problem I have with ETGS is they still havent sorted out their billing system and Im still getting the damn reports that the transfer failed when it went through ages ago.
Means I get an email a day that shouldnt be there, otherwise its fine.
Bluguy are not billing people and letting them pay, nor are they asking for cash although they are closing peoples accounts without warning and also (just happened to steve and i ask 2 others and on weekend they in fact have had the same) they are selling domain names registered through them to other domain companies saying they are expired when they are not and they are not giving out any warnings or payment emeails.
Looks like bluguy are going to fold and trying to get as much cash no matter what the means before they fold.

I sent in a cancellation request, and am now overdue on payment in my head by 4 days. Not even a single email has reached me warning me of an expired account and I can still access my hosting. Its like a ghost town.
Funny how both are going the same way at tge sane time, bluguy forums has people posting porn links and what not on it with no moderation.
Most be the same current owners of both milking what they can and the making them fold taking domain names etc off with them.
Think it would be a good idea for anyone still on these to move asap, at least back up and move the domain name to someone else.
I went for goDaddy economy hosting, worked out at Ã,£55 for 3 years, no other providers get anywhere close to that for value.
Pleased so far ... getting on with my CSS reading now!
only downside i have with godaddy is lack of IMAP.
beacause of that ive moved vini.co.uk to dream-hosting.co.uk who do support IMAP.
also, b-one support imap ftr!
My only concern about godaddy is the fact that everythings based in the states, will this realistically cause any problems :?

nope, my webhost (3 years, no problems) is based in the states. works fine, would be nice to have physical access, but its cheaper for me to host over there than here.
http://hostgator.com/
These look pretty good, and they seem to have a lot of glowing reviews around the intyweb, thoughts anyone?
been using godaddy.com for a long time now and absolutely flawless and none of the issues that come up with these small companies.
Wouldnt go back to the small hosts again (used many of the ones in this thread).
Its huge and impersonal but it sure as hell does the job with huge capacity and cheap. Cant fault it tbh.
Dont worry about it being based in the states - theyre pretty much the biggest host in the world and theyre significantly faster than any host Ive used outside of academia regardless of their location.

Yup Bluguy are a total joke now - avoid like the plague
