OMG! I didnt listen to it much when it came out as I was overseas and not paying attention, etc....meant for years to have a good listen to the whole thing... Insane! :D Best hiphop record ever, well, best one if you want to have fun. Best political album will always be "It Takes a Nation..." by Public Enemy. ;)

To think that I listened to Ill Communication and Check Your Head religiously, but overlooked this. :D

Woohoo, its like (re)discovering gold, baby! Total classic.

HELL YEAH! I got "To the 5 Boroughs" from 2004 as well. Imagine "Licensed to Ill" but done by crazy guys with way more talent and twenty years more life experience. Damn it works! :nana: :nana: Their voices have aged perfectly. :D Adam Yauchs voice has gotten rough! In an awesome way!

Wow. :D Never thought Id be listening to the Beasties 20 years later.

I think Hello Nasty still holds the top spot for the beasties.  TT5B was good in places, but the political mumbo jumbo got a bit crass in a few tracks.

I only rediscovered them last year after giving their music a once over when I was in school.  Now my mp3 player will always have at least 1 beastie boys album on it.

Have you seen their film, "Awesome, I ... shot that"?

Fantastic simple idea which worked out very well - to capture their madison square gardens gig, they handed out a number of camcorders to the crowd and told them never stop rolling.  Literally 30 (or 50, cant remember) different viewpoints of the concert pieced together like a masterpiece - makes you actually feel part of the crowd!

I didnt mind it, as its an album dedicated to NYC. The cover even shows the skyline, pre 2001. Its their first slightly "militant" album. Tho I think they still got a reference to eating cheese in there*. The beats are deeep and frugal. :D Havent heard "Hello Nasty" since it was spun at the club...

*ah yes, on track 11, gorgonzola. :D

"All this cheese is gonna make me cry
Gorgonzola, Provolone
Dont even get me started on this microphone"
