Cant wait for this looks like its gonne be good.
Got 4 preorders in with different places as not sure how many are going to be available, alot of places have actaully stopped taking pre-orders (currys, game etc) due to the amount the already have so doesnt look like there is going to be many around for launch.
ooks interesting
Looks good, for those that are interested:

Well my non pre order plan worked! Got one off the shelf in Tesco last night (after 12.00 of course!)
Looks pretty cool so far but will properly play with it tonight. Its sturdy though Ill give it that - even takes my ample frame without problem.

awesome ;)
So whos going to have a wee fit? Umm, they could have chose a better name.
The name cant be worse than Wii Sports...
I impulse ordered one this morning from JohnLewis.com
Am I the only one, that when first witnessing the ad with the bare feet standing on the Wii fit, couldnt help but imagine a yellow stream ala Exorcist hitting the controller?
The name of the console didnt help matters
Mines just arrived, so will let you know later if it is any good :)
Best £70 i have spent :)
It even tells me that im overweight......
I could have done that for free...
...tubby.
So does anywhere have these in stock or have they all vanished off the shelves?
Nevermind. Just reserved one from the local Argos, will head in and pick it up tomorrow.
As cool as it is, it really does come across as a joke for a good workout.
Maybe, but it comes down to:
My mum bought an excercise bike, a cheap one, but still, it cost a bit more than the Wii Fit. In a year, she clocked up a total number of K that I doubled cycling on it in 30 mins.
However, I can easily see my mum using the Wii fit, if she could just figure out how to turn the console on. When she says "I need to do some exercise" I laugh as I know full well she wont, but if we had the wii fit I might have to think again! - Thats the kind of market I think theyre aiming for. People that want to get properly fit will go about the traditional ways. Maybe this will be a tool for introducing the couch-potatoe generation to proper exercise, with baby steps to start...
Ill give you that. Tbh anything that can get a more posistive mental attitude towards lifestyle has to be a good thing.
But there is a line between fun and hardwork with fitness, and acutally getting results. I think even some of the most commited fitness freaks (which Im not) get bored time to time if they dont change their routine.
Great fun to be honest. And a few of the activities do seem to work up a bit of a sweat. Its never going to replace a proper exercise routine but an hour a day will certainly make a difference. Fingers crossed they bring out some more games that use the Wii board though, its a great bit of kit, Im very impressed.
Dad brought one home.
I think its pretty cool. Some of the exercises like pushup stuff are a bit annoying though due to the plasticness of the board, hands slip a little and stuff.
Havign said about my mum, she still hasnt grasped the concept of the wiimotes pointer thing, so itll be a challenge getting her to the point of actually using this properly. She even took some of her clothes off to try and reduce her weight and was pre-empting some excuses such as the wiimote making her go from overweight to obese, but she wasnt....
Heres a quick question...any idea what the different levels are for the games with "levels"?
Im referring to things like tightrope, which has beginner, advanced and super advanced modes.
Ive unlocked the advanced skiing, and done fairly well, but not unlocked super advanced...wondering if there is a super advanced mode for it? Would be cool to have a longer map to ski down!
they need ultimate modes for things like tightrope, EG, once you beat super advanced you should be given a mode where you have 90 seconds to get as far as you can on an endless rope. Would rather do that than just try to do super advanced as fast as I can!
would this be......another pointless wii gimmick to sell units whilst hiding the fact it has an extremely weak lineup of games ?
would this be......a pointless off topic post in a thread about wii fit?
The Wii is a mass market product.
Nintendo is more worried about shifting units. If that means 10 gamers dont buy it because of a weak line up but 100 new customers purchase it for the likes of wii fit then they will be more than happy.
The real money is in the casual mass market, which is exactly what Nintendo are going for. Its not worried about whether or not you and I believe their traditional gaming software is poor.
I havent got Wii fit yet, I got a US Wii and Im not sures its worth paying the shipping for.
Id say that weak line up is a bit debateable. Its only a weak line up if you still view the Wii as a normal everday console, competiting against xbox 360 and PS3. If you do still view it that way I really dont know why. We all know its a party console and its best suited for 2-4 players and not solo play, but to this end the line up is ace. Mario and Sonic olympics, mario party 8, rayman 2, warioware, wii sports, wii play, carnival, playground, mario kart, boogie, brain academy, ghost squad, HOTD 2&3 to name but a few - are all absolutely great with a few mates. Its a limited line up but not weak. WOuld my Wii replace my 360 - no. But my 360 wouldnt replace my Wii either.
On topic I got Wii Fit on release day and me and the missus have used it everyday since, Its great fun, good way to relax for 30 mins home from work and we seem to be losing a few pounds so great.
The problem I have is it reckons I need to gain over a stone to get a BMI of 22 heh!
Starting to get bored of the balance games, though the stretches/yoga etc are useful for my stiff legs.
Will probably use the balance board a lot more once Family Skiing is out!

I dont think Nintendo really care about selling many games in the end, since they make a profit on every console sold, unlike Sony or MS, who sell at a loss and then add markup onto games. Theres always
Mario,
Zelda, and
Metroid though. :)
Im enjoying this. With walking and this Ive lost 8lbs in 2 weeks which is not healthy according to Wii Fit.
Super Hula Hoop is a fracking killer :(
I lost 4lb, put on 5lb, then lost 5lb again. Im not placing too much faith in it to be honest but the exercises are a lot of fun. :ptu:
Island run is a killer. The jogging on the spot so needs shoes otherwise you end up killing the front part of your foot. Still, 239% burn rate on the island run :)
Just gutted that it looks like I need to do it again to unlock the free run thingy!
I actually find the island run quite easy, even in my rather podgy state. I find it hard to "keep" a decent pace on the screen although thats probably just the way the Wiimote sits in my pocket. The hardest one by far for me is the damn super hula-hoop thing.
Must admit I enjoy the boxing sequence game the most.
The boxing sequence I find hard, or at least, I cant get a good score at the end. Im going on the assumption of the last 10 seconds essentially being a "pummel with both hands as fast as you can" kinda thing. If youre meant to be doing 1-2-1-2 type things that must be where Im going wrong?
The pace is what I meant regarding the island run. Its easy if you just want to amble along and not both about keeping pace! The one thing the running modes have taught me is breathing. I always used to get the stitch when long distance running at school. But being on the spot for 5 or 10 minutes or whatever with not much to do, lets you focus on things like breathing and realise that one problem was that you werent breathing (enough) hehe.
I must say Im also finding the yoga exercises hard (some of them at least) but very worthwhile, far more so than the strength set. In fact I hardly ever do any of the strength exercises, I tend to split my time between yoga and aerobic with maybe some of the fun balancing ones like the snowboarding to finish off and cool down.
Does anyone elses Wii Fit age fluctuate wildly? Ive been as low as 20 (mins 5 years) and as high as 42 (plus 17 years) at times. The graph is a total up an down zig-zag.
I found it went up if I did the test after doing some of the exercises. (30 something) but if I do it at the start its consistently low at around 19-20 :)
Would agree yoga is tough. My legs arent very flexible so I really feel the pull on the the ones involving touching toes etc. Which I guess is good.
How does the jogging do its scoring? My first jog I did 104% then 54% then 44% and I dont think I did any different between each run.
I think its a combination of how fast your pace is and how regular it stays. The person you follow speeds up a little if you go fast, so to a point if you go fast from the start and make sure you dont overtake him/her and keep the pace/your distance you get a good score?
I think they do the jogging from the point of view that people get the best out of it if they push themselves to keep a set pace and not just walk it or something. If you slow down too much/too often they probably score it as a sign of unfitness or something?
If you overtake him/her when the dog is in front you get an alternate route too :D
Ive never overtaken them. I went hell for leather and got 75% :-/
So possibly a consistent pace rather than a specific pace. That makes sense. Ive seen the alternate route but I wasnt running at the time ;)
