I'm trying to build a mythtv backend server so I can have a few front ends to watch TV around the house and eventually get Freesat.

When the mythtv frontend tries to connect to the backend over the network I get an error 2013. I spent a few hours last night and haven't got anywhere near fixing it. The SQL server is running and I am using the correct login details because incorrect details give a different error.

Anyone had any experience with issues like this before?

Yep, tried all of that and nothing worked :(

This is beginning to get on my nerves. So far I have allowed pretty much everything on the backend, the user has access from anywhere to use the db. I've changed the my.cnf file about 100 times.

On a hunch I just tried my phone, android based, and it connected first time :/

So something is wrong with the way this system is accessing the server. Got a new error now too, 1045. So its connecting, but it cant authorise.
