Ive got a few bits like this,

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Security-Related/Password-Viewer.shtml - is handy for viewing ***** passwords, useful with pop3 collector software and things.

http://www.lostpassword.com/kit-forensic.htm - expensive but another handy one.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Hi Guys,

New to this forum. So far, I'm really diggin' it.

I know this is a very old, old post but I was hoping maybe someone will be able to help me out.

Pretty much, I got scammed out of $500 trying to rent out a room. Things went sour and I ended up taking her laptop as collateral. The thing is, I can't get in. I know about http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/ but I don't understand the instructions.

I'm trying to boot from USB:

How to make an bootable USB drive

1.) Copy all the files that is inside the usbXXXXXX.zip or on the CD onto an usb drive, directly on the drive, not inside any directory/folder.
2.) It is OK if there are other files on the USB drive from before, they will not be removed.

3.) Install bootloader on the USB drive, from command prompt in windows (start the command line with "run as administrator" if possible)
X:syslinux.exe -ma X:
Replace X: with the drive letter the USB drive shows up as (DO NOT USE C:)

I copied the files onto the USB but I don't understand step 3. "Install bootlader on the USB drive..."

Can anyone clear this up for me?

Anything will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Yes you can leave other files on a USB drive, you just need to unzip all the files into the root of a USB Key.

Reboot the laptop and boot from the USB key.  Step 3 isn't needed.

Sweetness! Got past  Again, really appreciate the help Cypher. Take it easy.

No one else wonder why "collateral" requires breaking the law? Granted its likely a yank, but still.

That did catch my eye tbh, I just chose to ignore the scenario.  I don't know why he/she bothered giving one.

Aye, rings alarm bells more than if they just said "er I can't get this booting" :)
