When I eventually get moved in to my new flat, im wanting to have sky in the bedroom as well.

Obviously running cables is a bit of a pain, but would give a 100% picture.

So, wireless could maybe an option. Has anyone used any of the wireless senders/receivers? Ive been told the cheap ones are crap, and the signal fades etc. Ive found this http://www.thedigiboxshop.com/wireless-remote-sender-wireless-remote-sender-televes-digidom.html But will the picture be 100%, or will it be fuzzy/faded etc ????

Or is it just better running the cables???

Cheers

After fiddling with a number of different wireless doo-dads, Id have to say that cables are just easier. Try taking the seconf rf-out on the sky box, and connecting it to the co-ax leading to the tv aerial socket in the bedroom (if there is one).

Alternatively, if you have the money, go for a wireless thing that uses the 5GHz band. Most consumer wireless stuff (wifi, most wireless tv things, radio microphones etc.) uses the 2.4GHz band, so its a bit crowed and you get more interference. But because 5GHz ones a a bit more expensive, theres less traffic so youll probably have less interference.

No shakey, there isnt a point in the bedroom unfortunately!!

Thought a cable may actually be better. I dont want to spend too much to be honest as all my money is going in to the flat at the moment. Would have paid £60, but really dont want any hassle with it!

if its your place - go to maplin, buy some cheap as hell cable and connectors and youre done.

Personally Ive always found senders (even relatively expensive ones) very lacking.  They work but nowhere near as well as a bit of wire.  Theres times where you dont want a wire but tbh most of the time a wire is a better solution than wireless for anything that doesnt need to move around.

If you want a tv point in your room its just a wire away.  If you cba you can fit it into the wall and just polyfiller over it to have it seemless as well.

Could not agree more, 100m cable was like £10 a few years ago, I got a pack of connectors and crimpers, wired up the house in a day, all linked up connected router, sorted workgroups and ip and router settings. Done.
Wireless while nice is really a pain in the ass

Jaitsu

get sky multiroom you tight get :P

chrisdicko

A cable would still need to be run though Jaitsu ;) So this way will be a lot cheaper!

Ill go thw wired route then!! Thought that wireless maybe a bit poor, but thought Id ask. Im sure Ill be able to find a neat way to do the run.

Cheers

Cable is cheap as chips. Much cheaper than a sender.
You can buy 100m for £30 that was nearly enough to hook up 5 rooms with 2 connections per room in my house.

If the sky dish is near the bedroom, why not tap into the 2nd port on the LMB, and grab a 2nd hand box from ebay?

chrisdicko

Na, it will be on the front mate, so will have to go through the front room anyway.

Slaps nexus around the head with a BNC... then asks him to "crimp it". :)
