Title: X-factor:battle of the stars
Post by: Serious on June 05, 2006, 01:40:46 AM
Anyone been watching this? TBH its been interesting enough to keep eyes on the box. Unfortunately there was no pre-contest screening so each mentor/judge ended up with what was available, this meant that one had noteably worse acts than the other two.

Groups: Paul Daniels and Debbie, thankfully sank without trace on the first night; the chefs - TV needs a new programme Cant Sing, Wont Sing; James and rebecca not professional material but they stuck to it, probably the best group. TBH the standards in the groups has been abysmal and thankfully they have all gone.

Over 25s: Gillian McKeith, definite problem singing, starts off OK but rapidly ran out of steam; Chris Moyles, one of the best, certainly supprised me, loads of talent; Lucy Benjamin, started out highly nervous and claimed, "I dont want to go on again" last Monday and Tuesday, Turns out shes got a great voice and is in the final.

16-24: Michelle Marsh, looks fabulous, plain voice, better than any of the groups; Nikki Sanderson, great looks and an excellent voice; Matt Stevens, brilliant bloke, fab voice, deservedly in the final.

Watching Simon Cowell try to be nice about his poison chalice of mentoring the groups was fun, he somehow had to find a way of saying something positive about his peeps except they were so bad he often had problems doing this.

Overall its been a highly interesting series with programmes every night and very little time for rehersals or training between shows although I doubt if Simon really wants to go through it again. Having to mentor three lots of no hopers might have done him some good (probably not though.)

Final tonight looks like its going to be well worth watching.

The first ones were, but then they got rid of all the duff singers so it was pretty good last night.
