Just goes to show the "Nope" , "no" "No plans" That come from Microsoft basically means basically they have had that information leaked out early (which is basically all the time) and all they can do is deny it.

BIG update coming to your 360 folks, the blades are no more in the sense of how they used to be.

Quote· Play from hard drive. Copy your games from the game disc and play directly from the hard drive. Not only will the drive not spin, but load times are quicker, as well. Of course, you will still need the disc in the tray to prove you own the game.

· Access Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web. Browse and purchase Marketplace content whenever you want from Xbox.com and it downloads automatically to your console. Purchase that new map, television episode, the latest Xbox LIVE Arcade game or set up a movie to watch when you get home from work.

· Dashboard built into the new Xbox Guide. For everyone who loves the blades interface, it's not going away; they are now built directly in to the new Xbox guide. Every feature and option is available right from the guide. You can even access your full games library at all times. No matter where you are (in dash or in game), immediately call up your games played list and directly launch a game.

· LIVE Party system. Create a party of up to eight friends, and stay with them from one game to another, or watch a Netflix movie together, or share a slideshow of your personal photos. It works with all Xbox 360 titles, not just upcoming games. LIVE Party allows up to eight people to chat in the dashboard, so you can meet up before playing.

· Xbox LIVE Primetime. This whole new category of games is going to give you more reasons to get online with your friends. Games will support everything you'd expect, like Achievements and leader boards, but many of these games will include real prizes. You can invite your friends, and even set a reminder for an upcoming show. Each game is broadcast simultaneously, so everyone is answering the same questions. Many events will have a live host, calling the shots as they happen.

· Avatars. Your online identity started as a Gamertag - it then grew into a personalized Gamercard. Now, it has evolved even further into avatars. You can express your style, check out new outfits and share this with the community. Avatars will also be integrated into Xbox LIVE Arcade games, LIVE Party, as well as retail games.

· New display support. Because you asked for it, we are adding 16X10 over VGA or HDMI, and support for 1440x900 or 1680x1050.

This is only the beginning. Over the next few months, we will share more details on the upcoming changes.

See you online,

Marc Whitten

Its worth mentioning that the blades arent going anywhere.  You will have the option to switch between this traversty and the original system.

Goblin

With the exception of the fake Miis I think this looks like a really good improvement to the interface which has really outgrown the Blade system. The addition of the "twist" element helped a little but its still freakishly hard to find something if you dont know where youre going.

Unlike Soopah, Ill wait to see it in action before I pass too harsh a judgement ;)
It's all fun and games until a 200' robot dinosaur shows up and trashes Neo-Tokyo... Again.

Deaths Head

Way to go at not opsting sources...
Only things that grab my attention are HD loading games (but disc needs to be in drive to play) and 16:10 support finally.  Its needed that since launch!

They said there is no choice, this replaces the old interface, the blades appear in the new in game appearance. The old interface is gone, the blades are used in places as a blade concept not in the old form so you will be looking for the option to change it back for a long time :P

It even says in your own quote that the blades arent going away.
And MNs Twitter says there is an option to switch between the two.

HD game loadings a nice feature, I only have a 20GB drive and never thought Id need anything bigger as I dont use it online so stuff like films dont appeal to me! Guess I was wrong thinking that

Agreeing with Soopah. I really dont like it. :disappointed:

One of the things I was hoping theyd improve was the full-screen music player/visualizer; it doesnt display track names in full screen mode. That has always bugged me.

I watched the event and commented on it. What the quote says is that the blades are not totally gone as they are used in some elements in this form...
[picture is gone m8 but its basically what you get as you go into it in a game or movie]
As you have it now it will change

This is what you get when you push the guide button in the middle of a game:

For the lazy: it seems you can now open and close the tray using just the controller. You could only close it before, from the dashboard. Progress! :w00t:

Thats kinda like what the guide looks like if you open it on Games for Windows Live games, which I do find looks better than the way it currently is on 360 where the guide slides on from the left of the screen.

Ive seen a few more videos of this, and Ive made up my mind.

Im not going to update in the autumn, MS can shove this new dashboard, its terrible. Thing is theyre all mandatory if you want to use live at all. :(

The more I have seen the easier it looks to use and access the features you want.
