No comments on stability yet but +net finally got me upgraded to max after what, 6 months?

Im guessing/hoping my modem is a little off on the DS margin figure.
The noise margin on my router tends to drift down to 1 after some time; it can be improved by disconnecting for an hour or so. You can also get better figure by connecting to the bT test socket behind the standard plate on the BT master socket; this bypasses compensation filtering applied to the main front socket to account for dodgy customer extension wiring.
are you on a peak time d/l limit ?
I *think* my brother is on +net with an 8meg line.... fast as hell.... tell he exceeds his bandwith limit limit.... so they then limit his peak time bandwith to 100k download :(
off peak he still gets full speed tho i think ?
My neighbors wifi is working great here in my kitchen.
I had a bloody laptop connect to my wifi yesterday for 4minutes, grrrr  Thatll teach me to forget to reset the security stuff.
I got a peak-time of 20gb, which is 13gb before limitations kick in. I just use dap to schedule my big dls for after midnight, its a pita but I can work around it.
Meh, I password protect the router itself and leave the network open. Im sure my neighbor borrows bandwidth when hes in range as well. No skin off my arse.

Oh really? So all that "I used to be a sous-chef" stuff is out the window now? :P
And, I know youre used to getting skin off your arse when mono-gearing, but over here we say
Quoteno skin off my nose
;)

If sdp is on the "Premier Option 1" like me, the figures are:
Peak-time usage within a billing month
Up to 13GB
13 - 17GB
17 - 20GB
20GB+
Speed of P2P, Usenet, file transfer applications
Up to line speed*
Up to 256Kbps
Up to 128Kbps
Blocked
Speed of other Internet activites
Up to line speed*
Up to 2Mbps
Up to 1Mbps
Up to 512Kbps
yup same thing my home home is on. I found it fine, just did downloading after midnight. Worked fine as most downloading programs allow you to schedule times in which they can download. Also the occassional download in peak times maybe made me hit 8gb peak usage.
Seems to me to be a fair deal.
Except theyve killed off bittorrent bandwidth, even if its encrypted youre lucky to get more than 50kb now, atm Im getting 10kb/s down between 2 different torrents.
How can you be sure that isnt all youd get from those particular torrents from whoevers hosting them? Hard to pin that one on the ISP.
Theyve rolled out ellacoya 6.4

Theres a 22page long topic on the pn forums about it.
lucky you, my line hasnt stabalised but heres mine

asked them to get rid of interleaving and see how it goes, download speed doesnt bother me too much
on force9 (another plusnet brand)
top speed its synced at since replacing my faceplate with a bt filter is 4576kbps, but it dropped in the evening as the line got worse.
seems ok at 3776 for now :)
replace the router with a netgear DG834 and wooo, 4750 kbps sync speed and holds the sync even below 0db SNR margin
dropped when i rebooted it to sync at 4900 but on the whole, very impressed,
plus the upnp saves me from routing ports to the 360
Im syncing at 4-5mb now but Im still only getting 2.5mb down for some reason :/

My exchange is red atm though..
youll find in a few weeks it will magically shoot up.
Mine connects at all but 8000, and I see ~ 5Mbps or so from the newsgroups sustained.
Hope they fix this too:

I think thats typical though. There is a BT speedtest you can do online through your normal login (as opposed to the one where you change your login to the BT one) that gives you the "current speed BT think you can get"(called the IP Profile or BRAS Data Rate) as well as the measured download speed, which is subject to contention/noise at the time you do it.
//www.speedtester.bt.comIve had speed tests show up to 4 Mbit but usually (if its working okay) I get 2-3. Some times if it stays at 400 kbps or worse for several days I kick up a fuss. The router sync speed always shows in excess of 4Mb.
Yeah my bras is at 2500. Im gonna ignore it for a few days, but the p2p thing is still a nightmare!
