Just noticed that two of the guide threads have exceeded 100K views, not too shabby for a little forum with about a dozen active users

Shame all those people don't hang around! :D

Here's an idea.

What about if we made it so the guide was visible but any updates the user would need to register to the forum for? :)

I'm not even sure how that would work?

Even then it wont make them post.

Think about the amount of times you just search for info on the net, how often do you actually post on the forums you view.

And even if someone posts it'll be about that thread, there's not a lot going on here to keep them coming back.

Not like the old days when the niche was overclocking, now we are more of a general discussion forum, we no longer have a niche / focus.

A lot of people were also drawn in by the association to a commercial business, we no longer have that link, which has it's benefits despite some of the drawbacks!

Yes, we don't even have a niche in the sense of being focused on one area of IT now, and people generally stick around on forums because of the knowledge people have for a specialist area.

Don't know about you lot but as I've grown older I use forums less. Still have a tech query in my mind currently and where do I go? Yup... Back here. :)

Career, Wife, Mortgage... my sig was better when it listed guitars and PC's and stuff!

i seem to remember thinking roughly this when i first visited and all the computer forums has been condensed into one.

I think its just the way the forums have adapted to you guys growning up, as opposed to forums staying the same because the focus is the kit.
