The whole thing with the runways having their numbers changed is nothing whatsoever to do with this "cataclysmic" flipping of the poles that seems to be everyone's favourite theory of how the world will end after 2012 and the Large Hadron Collider. Everyone seems to be trying to bundle this in with some massive apocalyptic phenomenon.

It's actually called precession and is caused by a slight wobble of the Earth on it's axis. It always has happened and will continue to do so. Gradually the actual location of true north will shift over a period of about 26,000 years, and due to the way runways are named (one tenth of the magnetic azimuth of the runway heading, for example runway 19 could be 190 degrees or anything between 185 and 194 degrees) this happens from time to time.
