Basically gotta be reasonably technical and have a driving licence.

Place I work is looking for field engineers (Called Double Agents) for supporting home users.  Pay is 19k rising to 20k with a 15% bonus on top of that.  Youll also get the keys to a Smart Car.

The Job entails fixing computer at clients houses.  Think Tech Guys, but with clue.

If you are interested go to
www.careersatcarphone.com
then use text search for "Geek Squad".  The company is pretty decent to work for.  Also, if you do want to apply gimme a shout and ill give you my name to put in as referral.  Id get £400 as a referral ;)

Depends to be fair.  As New areas probably only a couple.  The London lads do anything between none and four depending.  You are given decent travel time as well, the system is set up intelligently.  I work nightshift in the call centre, not field, but the field lads seem to be pretty happy with their jobs.

just think your being underpaid.. £100 to setup a router/network
only need to do 1 to cover your expenses, the other 3 are company profit.

*shrug* thats the way things work though isnt it?

if you want to go into business for yourself then you will do, however some people prefer to work for someone and know exactly how much cash hits the bank at the end of the month.

Geek Squad is a us company. You see their vans here all the time.

Yeah, they hammered the company history into us.  Its actually part of Best Buy over there, over here its a 50/50 venture between CPW and Best Buy.  When Best Buy roll their stores out next year well be in pretty much every store they open.

Looking for a job in Newcastle from next week!

*goes to take a look*

Ive currently only got Btecs in Computing, just equal to A-Levels, but starting a degree in Computer Science in September but also need a job. Unsure if this is enough as its going on about MSCE qualifications and MAC OS qualifications (never used Mac much at all)

Cheers!

I have no current qualifications except for a BSc IT.  Pretty much everyone else at our place is the same.  If you know your stuff then you would likely be fine.  Pay isnt the best, but its decent enough.  Plus if you get stuck one of the better office based agents is on the end of the phone, and they will know the right person to ask if they arent too sure.

To be perfectly honest ive seen plenty of vacancies filled by MCSE qualified people who are only getting paid 17k.  Thing is, its such a common qualification, and so many people do it that you can actually offer less and get someone for a year or so until they have some experience, rinse and repeat.  Also, the number of MCSEs ive met who lack any form of clue makes me giggle.  Most of them are thick as a plank, and think that an MCSE is the gateway to 30k+ a year.

I know my way around networking rather well with Cisco based networks and then the general other brands (nothing a bit of googling has any problems sorting anyway)

Im confident in my abilities with Windows running 98,2000, NT4, XP & Vista. Also basics with setting up Ubuntu and Slackware. I will apply and see how it goes, I may as well give it a shot, throw me a PM with your name.

Yup. MCSEs are for Bullsh*tters & Sales people.
