A week ago, a couple rednecks came in from Lafayette to harrass the homeless that congregate and sleep by the riverfront. They smashed one guy in the face with a beer bottle, and rolled the young  Tara Cole into the water from where she was sleeping. She sunk and drowned, despite several downtown partiers that jumped into the river to try to save her.

Today we have bittersweet news, the central precinct managed to track down the two killers, and her body was recovered, so that she may receive a decent burial.

Tara was known as a very kind young woman, who was loved by a lot of people that pass through the riverfront. Nobody ever had a bad word to say about her. So this act of violence, which could have easily gone under the radar, has gripped the city for the past week. Weve all been just horrified. People have been holding vigils every night, and the downtown precinct promised the impossible: they were going to track the perps down no matter what. Good job on their part. Its a corrupt police force, with  few really awesome men and women. Thanks to them a million people can stop holding their breath.

Serious

Its not just corruption. Incompetence, lazyness and personal belief are all usually contributory factors too. We have had the problems in the UK police force and they are still there undermining their work.
