Title: Ataxia/China
Post by: Privateer on October 03, 2009, 18:09:35 PM
Im very opinionated and speak my mind, I often piss people of Im sorry for that.
As people know the BBC/Panorama have said my operation is dangerous, but look at  me if you had Ataxia like me would  you say no  to a possible treatment, but going to China will be crazy, Im so disabled now Im dreading the flight, I need 18K all in, its a fortune for  some and  pocket change for others,
one good thing my treatment is 30 days, carers stay free, in very posh hospitals it is bloody expensive but for 30 days you get intensive physiotherapy and there are centres everywhere, just not here and by the time our doctors might get feelings there will be so much red tape ill never get treated in the UK

i think its a disgrace that you have to live like that when you can be fixed for 18k....  which you have no chance of saving up... even if you lived on bread and water with no heat or power... as soon as you got to 6k theyd start cutting your benefits

Is there anyone down there who can help you get the ball rolling to raise money ?  even just something daft for a bit of publicity.... dunno how to say this... but you need someone to push you around and show everyone how messed up you are... so they realise what a difference it will make to your life.... even if youre sitting outside a supermarket with a bucket on your knee....

A couple of fresh reports in the local newspapers, contact asda see if theyll let you sit outside with a bucket on your knee and a couple of posters with the newspaper reports blown up etc... maybe a flyer to give to people who give you money... so they can see how such a small amount will make such a big difference to you....  my local asda (which is apparently the most profitable in the country and is always mega busy) regularly has days where people go in and pack your bags / carry them for you for charity - you chuck a donation in on the way out etc...  with the amount of people going through places like that you could easily make 2k on a good day ?   (if my local is happy to do it when theyre so busy, the others should be happy too?)

Im not quite sure how you do it...  but Im assuming you can set something up so the money counts as a charity etc... so it doesnt effect your benefits/helpers/etc...

if you can find someone to give you a hand, and really get the ball rolling,  Ill put in £1000   -)

Its not for the bbc to make a decision about it being dangerous or not. Its your life afterall, so its your decision.
As for sitting outside asda... you be better off sitting outside waitrose.

Cant you find another TV channel/production company to follow your plight? Channel 4 do a lot of documentries like that.
Maybe get them to pay for it agreeing to follow your every move.

I know someone whos stag party all got paid for by a tv production company & Bianca Gascoigne followed them around
for the weekend filming it for a tv show - none boned her from what I was told.
