Just wondering whether people want to do a best film of 2009 competition. Can have a nominations round until the new year and then spend January doing varies vote-offs to come up with what the majority reckon the best film was, much like confectionary wars.
Only problem will be deciding what faces what...
...suggestions?
Moon
Instant ban for anyone saying new moon.
Star Trek FTW

What he said
inglorious bastards... miles ahead of 2nd choice District 9
Didnt think much of moon, it dragged on to long.
Torn between Star Trek, Moon and Watchmen.
So Im guessing from the nominations that weve skipped the discussion of the competition rules/framework and its got the green light to go ahead?
I think this is the throw your ideas in stage.
I saw a lot of good,average and crap films this year.
Knowing was awfull, Star Trek was a suprisingly good film. Pelham 123 was a decent film. District 9 came out of nowhere.
My favourite for the year had to be Inglorious Basterds, if not Up, which was my favourite Pixar movie to date.
of the films I can think of as this year it would be Hurt Locker
Chalk another one up for Star Trek.
Inglorious Bastards was ok, but not great - I dont like made-up stories based around real world wars....thats just me, kinda insults the people who actually gave their lives in the war.
Not seen Moon yet, nor UP.
I like Wall-E (Was that this year?)
I think slumdog millonaire was good (dunno if that was this year too>?)
Not seen transformers2, District9 either, not much good on this am I lol
I prefer Valkarie to Inglorious Bastards
Anyone who even thinks Transporters 2 is instant bad ;)
what about gran torino?

He said those words ... BAN HIM! :-P :mrgreen:
And you did by proxy by quoting it!
* Watchmen <- Bold because Ive watched it more than 7 times, and I want to be Dr. Manhattan when I *grow up*. :P
* District 9
* Zombieland
* Moon
* Gran Torino
And although not better than Up, I really enjoyed Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs.
And are we talking exclusively about western cinema? I saw a lot of films that will probably never be well known in the west.
I think for the compo to work it has to be films that have been globally released by the end of 2009. So unless its a blockbuster asian hit thats made it over onto this side of a pond I dont think its worth entering it.
Im going to throw in Harry Potter just to spice things up. :XD:
