What happened was a few AIDS sufferers were paid the equivalent of three quid a donation, along with all the other poor farmers. By the time a doctor blew the whistle on it a million people had been infected by AIDS. Then the authorities tried to gag the doctor and generally tried to silence any protest about the situation.
